HOMEMADE PALAK PANEER RECIPE
Ingredients:
- 2 cups fresh spinach leaves
- 200 grams paneer (cottage cheese), cut into cubes
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or yogurt
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
Instructions:
1. Start by blanching the spinach leaves in boiling water for about 2 minutes. Drain the water and transfer the spinach to a blender or food processor. Blend until you get a smooth puree. Set aside.
2. Heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.
3. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown. Then add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for another minute.
4. Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
5. Stir in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Cook for another minute.
6. Add the spinach puree and mix well. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
7. Add the paneer cubes and gently stir to coat them with the spinach mixture. Cook for about 5 minutes or until the paneer is heated through.
8. Crush the fenugreek leaves with your hands and sprinkle them over the dish.
9. Add the heavy cream or yogurt and mix well. Season with salt to taste.
10. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
11. Serve hot with naan, roti, or rice. Enjoy your homemade palak paneer!
